Los Angeles born pop and classical singer Josh Groban's rise to stardom took off in 1998. Only 17 years old, Groban had been offered to sing at the inauguration ceremony of the Governor of California. One of the attending guests was multi-Grammy Award-winning composer and producer David Foster who was filled with admiration for the young performer. Foster soon began working with Groban as a rehearsal singer on a series of high-profile events, including the 1999 Grammy Awards at which he filled in for the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli in a duet with Céline Dion.
Offered a recording contract a year later, Groban dropped out of university where he was studying theater and drama. In November 2001, he released his self titled double-platinum debut album. Two years later, the follow-up "Closer" came out. Including a cover of the song "You Raise Me Up", produced by David Foster, the album went to #1 on the Billboard chart.
After spending almost two years on an arena tour across the US, Groban went back into the recording studios in 2006. Much awaited by his loyal fans, the so-called Grobanites, his third studio album "Awake" was released on November 7. On The Special Edition two exclusive bonus tracks were included. One of the songs was the David Foster produced "Verita" written by A Side Productions together with Richard Page, the songwriter and former lead singer of Mr Mister. Across the three albums, Josh Groban has sold well over 14 million copies.
