Steps

The success story of British pop-sensation Steps begins in the spring of 1997 as all the members answered to an advert published in "The Stage", a "Theatre News Reviews and Audition"-magazine. The ad marketed an open audition for a line-dancing pop group who could sing. Six months and five thousand applicants later, the five members had been selected. Steps were born.

Released in early 1998, Steps' debut-single was an immediate success, hanging around the UK charts for three months, and soon Jive Records, the home of artists such as the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, had contracted the up-coming group.

With several top positions on the charts, Steps in 1999 got invited by Britney Spears to join her on her first headlining tour of North America. After spending eight hectic summer weeks on the U.S. roads, each night performing in front of tens of thousands of fans, Steps returned home only to begin planning their own domestic tour - an incredible ambitious 33 date Arena tour from October throughout December.

Launched on October 20, 1999, all venues were completely sold out with more than 350.000 people going to see the group live. Becoming the biggest tour the UK had ever seen, Steps now entered the record books.

A year later, on October 30, 2000, Steps released their third studio album "Buzz" which includes the song "It's The Way You Make Me Feel", co-produced by David Kreuger. Released as the second single, it reached No. 2 on the UK Charts.

After record breaking tours, 12 consecutive singles in the UK Top 5, selling 4 million albums in the UK, an additional 4 million singles and 12 million records worldwide, Steps called it a day. On December 26, 2001, Steps announced that the group had split, all members pursuing solo careers.
